What are dermal fillers?
It is no longer necessary to go under the knife to look your absolute best. Our team consists of professional injectors who are trained in the art and science of aesthetic facial rejuvenation. This will allow you to get the best result possible.
Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance that contain a naturally occurring substance which is found within our skin and connective tissue. It’s for this reason that dermal fillers are considered bio-compatible and offer a low risk treatment to make your skin look beautiful again.
Unlike wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers show the result instantly.

What areas can dermal fillers be used for?
Dermal fillers aim to perfectly contour and improve different parts of the face. This allows you to have a more defined and youthful appearance which can include treatment associated with the:
- Definition and volume associated with liquid mentation
- Superficial to deep lines around the nasolabial folds
- Superficial to deep lines around the marionette lines
- Lines around your lips also known as smokers lines
- Augmentation of your chin.
Dermal Filler FAQs
What does the treatment involve?
At Bayview Dental, prior to getting any dermal fillers, a thorough consultation of your teeth and face are required. This will include full clinical photography, assessment of your skin, and then a customised approach to discuss your concerns and expectations to formulate a plan. Treatment can often be done on the same day if this is what you are after.
The procedure usually takes around 30 minutes and this is to allow enough time to create an aesthetically pleasing result. During the appointment, our doctors will offer you numbing cream or local anaesthetic to further reduce your discomfort.
The treatment itself involves the placement of a gel like fluid under your skin to allow a plumper and more youthful look.
The results are immediate and some people may notice swelling for up to three days. A follow-up consultation is complimentary and recommended to assess the results of your makeover.
Which dermal filler do you recommend?
Depending on your goals, our team will always view your facial rejuvenation holistically and select the best dermal filler that is suitable for the condition.
Do I need time off work?
Dermal fillers require minimal downtime and it is usually a painless procedure especially with the ability for us to give you anaesthetic. You’ll be able to resume your social activities and work without most people knowing you’ve had any work done.
It is a good idea to follow the aftercare instructions we recommended to reduce the risk of side effects.
These include:
- avoiding alcohol and certain medications,
- ice, or cold compress to reduce discomfort and swelling
- not laying down immediately after or
- doing strenuous activity
I’m scared of having complications
It is normal to be concerned about any complication associated with a medical procedure. Fortunately, the risk of dermal filler treatment is very low. Some people will notice local swelling or asymmetry. Others may experience redness, bruising or bumps following the filler.
Dermal fillers cannot be given to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. They are also contraindicated for those taking certain prescriptions for acne medication or have a history of autoimmune diseases. Prior to starting your treatment, we can discuss your individual risk.
How long will the treatment last?
What is the cost of having dermal fillers?
The cost of dermal filler will depend on the type of dermal filler used. At Bayview Dental we only use premium dermal fillers and as such our fee may reflect this nature.
The fee involved includes the cost of consultation, should you go ahead with the treatment.
Please note that discounts may be available when multiple syringes of filler are used or anti-wrinkle treatments are combined.
